A traditional Chinese New Year print from Yangjiabu, Weifang, hand-printed from carved woodblocks with each color registered by hand.
SKU CF-NIANHUA-01
Yangjiabu woodblock New Year prints (nianhua) come from Yangjiabu village in Weifang, Shandong. The tradition was listed in China's first national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006.
Each print is printed by hand from traditional carved woodblocks on paper. Every color is printed from its own block and lined up by hand (手工套色). Prints are made in small batches from traditional blocks. They are new prints, not antiques.
Choose a design:
• Door Gods pair: Qin Qiong and Yuchi Gong, two prints traditionally pasted on the two leaves of a front door
• Lotus & Carp, "Abundance Year After Year" (连年有余), single print
• Zhong Kui (钟馗), single print
• God of Wealth Arrives (财神到), single print
• Collector large print: "Zhaojun on Horseback" (昭君跑马), a large design carved by master Yang Luoshu, as listed by the workshop
In Chinese homes these prints are traditionally hung for the Spring Festival as wishes for a good year and to keep bad luck away. Chinese New Year 2027 falls on 6 February.
Size: about 34 × 46 cm for the standard prints (Door Gods: two sheets of this size). The Zhaojun print is a larger sheet.
Because every print is hand-registered, slight differences in color and alignment are normal. The photos show the designs; your print may differ a little. The door god photo is a style example of a hand-printed pair.
How to order: choose the design and place your order. To have it before Chinese New Year, order by early January.
Shipped rolled in a tube, unframed.
Lead time: ships in about 5–7 days, then about 2–3 weeks international shipping.
Price includes estimated postage to the US/EU. Sent from China as a small international packet.
